The challenge

The steady growth of Granol AG and its product portfolio, as well as the integration of Sarna-Granol AG in 2020, resulted in a complex system landscape with redundant databases. In addition, the website and newsletter launched in 2016 were due for renewal.

Solution

Pimcore offers the ideal platform to reduce the complexity of the system landscape. In an intensive process, a standardised product data schema was developed and moulded into a future-proof data model by our PIM experts. At the same time, the content structure of the website was optimised in several workshops together with the Granol marketing and PM team and prepared for the target group.

An interface to the ERP (BMEcat data format), existing databases and the old newsletter tool were used as data sources. Customised interfaces and data import definitions were used to transfer the existing data into the new data model and link them together.

Now nothing stood in the way of setting up the various output channels: In addition to a modern, responsive website with a user-centric design and the classic online product catalogue, other channels are supplied with the same data: printable PDFs of the product catalogue in high quality and a personalised newsletter system round off the first phase.

instride AG realised our ideas flawlessly and supported us every step of the way. Our new website is a great asset for our company and is an excellent reflection of our brand. The professionalism and commitment of the team contributed significantly to the success of the project.

Highlights

Product programme
The cleansed and standardised product data is turned into an online product catalogue with lightning-fast search and filter options to get to the desired product as quickly as possible. Despite a large number of products and product variants, it takes just a few clicks to find the Granol AG product you are looking for.

Surfaces
Granol AG offers an incredible variety of possible surfaces: whether interior or exterior, natural or high-gloss - there is the perfect surface for every application. With the surface finder, customers can now also experience this variety online. Perfectly linked to the real world, of course: visitors to Granolexpo can switch directly from the surface sample to the online catalogue using a QR code.

Contact search
With a company of this size and the corresponding geographical distribution, it is not always easy to find the right contact person. With the new contact search, this too is child's play: no matter what you enter, our AI-supported search will find the right contact person in a flash.

Future

With Pimcore as a platform and a future-proof data model, Granol AG has successfully built the launch pad for the digitalisation rocket. The automatic segmentation of website visitors to display the right content at all times is now just as easy as sending customer-specific product catalogues in the print edition. With the complete product range and simple filtering and categorisation, nothing stands in the way of expansion into a B2B shop if required.
